หนังสือ “การกลับใจเชื่อ” โดย ไมเคิล ลอร์เรนซ์ เป็นหนังสือเล่มหนึ่งในชุดหนังสือ “การสร้างคริสตจักรที่เข้มแข็ง” ที่จัดพิมพ์โดยไนน์มาร์ค โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเสริมสร้างคริสตจักรให้มีความรู้ที่ถูกต้องตามหลักพระคัมภีร์ หนังสือเล่มนี้เป็นงานเขียนที่อธิบายกระชับ ชัดเจน และเข้าใจง่ายตรงตามพระคัมภีร์เกี่ยวกับเรื่องที่สำคัญคือ “การกลับใจเชื่อ” ซึ่งเป็นหัวใจสำคัญของความรอดในพระเยซูคริสต์

สิ่งที่ข้าพเจ้าชื่นชอบในหนังสือเล่มนี้ก็คือ การอธิบายที่เข้าใจง่ายและเห็นภาพของปัญหาต่างๆ ที่ผู้เขียนพยายามสื่อให้เห็นในคริสตจักรยุคปัจจุบัน ซึ่งเป็นเรื่องที่ไม่ไกลตัวเลย เช่น เรื่องการทำให้ข่าวประเสริฐเป็นเรื่องง่ายๆ เพื่อให้คนที่รับฟังเกิดความประทับใจ จนทำให้หัวใจหลักของข่าวประเสริฐถูกลดทอนลง ความบาป การหันหลังให้กับความบาป และการกลับใจและเชื่อในพระเยซูคริสต์เป็นเนื้อหาที่ไม่ค่อยมีใครอยากพูดถึงมากนัก หนังสือเล่มนี้ช่วยให้ข้าพเจ้าเข้าใจเรื่องการกลับใจเชื่อมากขึ้นทั้งส่วนตัวและการที่เรื่องนี้เกี่ยวข้องกับคริสตจักรอย่างไร และได้ทบทวนความเชื่อของตนเองว่าถูกต้องตามพระคัมภีร์หรือไม่
สำนวนการเขียนของผู้เขียนหนังสือเล่มนี้ทำให้เกิดความรู้สึกน่าติดตามและอยากได้คำตอบตามพระคัมภีร์ การอธิบายต่างๆ ได้นำเอาหลักศาสนศาสตร์เรื่องความรอดมาอธิบายอย่างเป็นธรรมชาติและไม่น่าเบื่อ อีกทั้งลอร์เรนซ์ยังได้อธิบายว่าเราจะนำเอาสิ่งต่างๆ เหล่านี้มาประยุกต์ใช้ในชีวิตส่วนตัวและในคริสตจักรได้อย่างไร ลอร์เรนซ์ยังได้พูดถึงเรื่องการที่คริสตจักรในไทยอาจจะไม่ได้ให้ความสนใจมากนัก ก็คือ การตรวจสอบความเชื่อก่อนการรับเข้าเป็นสมาชิกใหม่ในคริสตจักร การลงวินัย ซึ่งเรื่องเหล่านี้ดูเหมือนจะไม่ได้เกี่ยวข้องกับความรอด แต่ลอร์เรนซ์ได้อธิบายเรื่องเหล่านี้อย่างสอดคล้อง และชี้ให้เห็นความสำคัญในการเป็นประชากรของพระเจ้าซึ่งมีส่วนซึ่งกันและกัน

Many reduce the truth of conversion to a one-time act—such as praying a sinner’s prayer or making a superficial decision—without true transformation. Lawrence explains biblical conversion as a genuine turning back to God and turning away from sin, leading to change in every area of life. Moreover, he explains how the church plays an essential role in this process.
What I appreciate most about this book is its clear explanations and the vivid portrayal of issues the author highlights within the modern church—issues that hit close to home. For example, the tendency to simplify the gospel message just to make it appealing, which ultimately waters down its core. Topics like sin, repentance, turning away from sin, and faith in Jesus Christ are often neglected. This book has helped me better understand conversion both personally and in its connection to the church, prompting me to reflect on whether my own faith aligns with Scripture.
The author’s writing style is engaging and compels readers to seek biblical answers. The explanations seamlessly integrate the theology of salvation in a natural and compelling way. Furthermore, Lawrence offers practical guidance on how to apply these truths in personal life and within the church. He also addresses issues that may not receive much attention in Thai churches, such as examining the faith of new members before church membership and church discipline. Although these topics might seem unrelated to salvation, Lawrence explains how they fit together and highlights their importance in living as God’s people who are interconnected with one another.
This book is suitable for all Christians and anyone interested in the subject. It helps lay a solid biblical foundation of faith and greatly strengthens both individual lives and the broader church community. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
